Men are born free, but everywhere they are in chains.- Rousseau said.
All Men are created equal. It is said.
I doubt both of them. All men are not in chains. Some people are chained and they are chained by some other people. The slaves are in chains and the masters chained them.
Men are never created equal. Some are born to affluence and some are to poverty. Some will have plenty to spend lavishly and some will not have enough to eat. Men are unequal always. Sometimes this inequality is glaring and sometimes it is not.
Take the case of recent attack on Srilankan cricket team in Pakistan. We all heaved a sigh of relief as all the cricketers were saved. But eight people, most of them policemen, died facing the bullets of terrorists. And almost everybody, from media to the cricketers were indifferent about them. Probably we don't care when "Flies die". But these flies might have their families too and it is very likely that they were the bread earners for their families.
This is just one example. Same was the case when Rajiv Gandhi died in a suicide attack. At least fourteen other people died in the attack. But we weep only for Rajiv Gandhi, we remember only Rajiv Gandhi.
The suicide attack on Benazir Bhutto killed not only her, but 23 other people also.
But the world media was totally focused on Benazir Bhutto, the world had no time to shed tear for the other "flies" killed in the attack.
We the people and the media are only concerned about the well being of stars and leaders of the world. Deaths of "flies" is a too insignificant a thing for us to take note of.
